Coffee takes some heat by many health gurus out there., I’m not one of them. Although coffee can be ruined by adding cream (naughty for those who struggle digesting it) refined white sugar or even worse, artificial sweetener, it packs a punch of antioxidants that the average person may not otherwise get. Clean, organic coffee is the way to go. Don’t overdue it and keep it as natural and healthy for your body  as possible. For those of you daring enough to try new things, here are my favorite recipes to spice up my coffee love affair.

Vanilla Coconut latte

1 cup freshly brewed coffee

1 tablespoon coconut oil

1/4 teaspoon vanilla

toasted coconut flakes are a nice touch for garnish but certainly not necessary.

Blend in a blender for some frothy goodness or just add ingredients straight into your mug and stir with a spoon.

Herbal infusion

Try a combination of your favorite spices! If using a French press, toss in some cardamom pods, cinnamon, vanilla bean, carob, cacao nibs or mint for added antioxidants and flavor.

Coffee Smoothie

I love smoothies. I jump out of bed every morning with thoughts of endless smoothie possibilities dancing through my brain

1 cup of cold or room temperature coffee

1/2 cup almond milk or coconut milk

2 frozen bananas

Sometimes I spoil myself and add a tablespoon of cacao to make it chocolaty

A teaspoon of chia seeds can be added to thicken it up and keep you regular!

These are just a few ways to enhance the coffee experience. More to come.
