Velvety Vegan Hot Chocolate for One!

I love to get recipes from different sources. From time to time, I’ll be asking others to guest write for my website. Today, Andrea Spencer has submitted a great recipe for a cold winter day such as today. With snow on the ground, rain in the near future, this recipe is perfect to snuggle in for what ever Mother Nature brings our way. I hope one day you’ll share a recipe with me so that I can feature it. Food is to be shared, whether at the table or via a recipe.

Andrea Spencer….. Resides in Ymir, BC a small and beautiful community outside of  Nelson, BC. Andrea is currently studying Holistic Nutrition while raising her daughter Winter with her partner Evan. An avid outdoors person, Andrea brings to our website a great knowledge of British Columbian grown food, flora and fauna. Andrea has a keen sense of nutrition and loves the adventure of trying new food and recipes.

As the temperature dips and the snow blankets the ground, it’s nice to cuddle up to a warm mug of hot chocolate. I always challenge myself to find a healthier alternative to the classics we’ve been raised to love. There is no need to sacrifice my health when I crave a hot cup of chocolaty greatness. The following guilt free hot chocolate recipe is one the kids will love too. Grab a big mug and enjoy.

Ingredients

2 cups of almond milk (or any milk or milk alternative)
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
2 heaping tablespoons of raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon of arrowroot powder
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
