Velvety Vegan Hot Chocolate
Velvety Vegan Hot Chocolate for One!
I love to get recipes from different sources. From time to time, I’ll be asking others to guest write for my website. Today, Andrea Spencer has submitted a great recipe for a cold winter day such as today. With snow on the ground, rain in the near future, this recipe is perfect to snuggle in for what ever Mother Nature brings our way. I hope one day you’ll share a recipe with me so that I can feature it. Food is to be shared, whether at the table or via a recipe.

As the temperature dips and the snow blankets the ground, it’s nice to cuddle up to a warm mug of hot chocolate. I always challenge myself to find a healthier alternative to the classics we’ve been raised to love. There is no need to sacrifice my health when I crave a hot cup of chocolaty greatness. The following guilt free hot chocolate recipe is one the kids will love too. Grab a big mug and enjoy.
2 cups of almond milk (or any milk or milk alternative)
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
2 heaping tablespoons of raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon of arrowroot powder
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1. Heat almond milk, vanilla and maple syrup on medium heat
2. Whisk in cacao, arrowroot powder and salt
3. Let the mixture boil on medium heat for five minutes
4. Allow to cool to optimal drinking temperature
This recipe is gluten free, Vegan and Paleo. You can also make this recipe with regular milk if you would like.
Do you have a favourite recipe, passed down from your family but you aren’t sure how to change it up to make it healthier? Send in a request to transform any recipe into a healthier option. I enjoy the challenge. I’ll work the recipe until I get it right.
